Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Nizom bin Sairi

Executive Chairman, Humanology Sdn Bhd

 

Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Nizom bin Sairi had an illustrious career with Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (LHDNM) where he served for 38 years. He reached the highest position in LHDNM when he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer/Director General of Inland Revenue on 19 October 2021 and served until his retirement on 16 December 2023.

His wealth of knowledge on the operations and administration of direct taxes in Malaysia is evident from the various senior positions held while in LHDNM. Dato’ Sri Mohd Nizom was the Director of Compliance Department, Director of Investigation Department, State Director of Perak, Director of Malaysian Tax Academy, Deputy CEO (Management) and Deputy CEO (Tax Operations) before his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer. His visionary and transformative leadership has brought the organisation to greater heights when LHDNM recorded highest revenue collection for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023.

Being a prominent speaker, Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Nizom Sairi frequently represents Malaysia and LHDNM at conferences, seminars and workshops. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Nizom Sairi is passionate in his vision of creating a tax administration that is seen as a strategic partner by all stakeholders, with the end result of building and creating a well-informed society on tax matters, thereby realising the objective of increasing voluntary compliance in Malaysia.

Outside from leading LHDNM, Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Nizom Sairi was elected as Chairman of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA) for the 2021-2024 term. He was also Head of the Executive Council for the Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries (ATAIC) for the
2021-2023 term and Chair to Study Group on Asian Tax Administration and Research (SGATAR) for the term 2022/2023.

In his career post retirement, Dato’ Sri Dr Mohd Nizom is currently an Independent Director in a few private and public companies. He also holds position in the advisory board of a few tax related firms where he wishes to continue contributing to the improvement of the tax echo system in Malaysia.


Datuk William Ng

National President of SAMENTA

Datuk William Ng is the National President of SAMENTA, the oldest and largest association for SMEs in Malaysia.

He is also chairman / champion of the Retail and F&B Productivity Nexus and a board member of the Malaysian Alliance of Corporate Directors.

He is chairman and managing director of SGX-listed Audience Analytics Limited.

Datuk William has been a strong promoter of SMEs for over 20 years and being recognised in the SME community - having championed for policies and the welfare of SMEs for many years. 


Firdaos Rosli

Chief Economist, AmBank Group

 

Firdaos has been appointed as the Chief Economist of AmBank Group starting from 12th January 2024. He has previously worked as the Chief Economist at Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad and MARC Ratings Berhad from 2020 to 2023.

Before joining MARC Ratings, he served at the Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia for almost a decade in different positions, including Senior Analyst (Economics) to Director of Economics, Trade and Regional Integration. While at ISIS Malaysia, he also worked as a short-term external consultant to the World Bank. He was a former EXCO member of the Malaysia-Japan Economic Association.

Between 2005 and 2010, Firdaos worked as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer for the Malaysian government under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), where he was responsible for developing policies concerning bilateral and regional trade relations, Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and industrial development. He also served as the Senior Private Secretary to MITI's Deputy Minister in the Minister's Office from 2008 to 2010.

Firdaos earned his Master of Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as a 2019/2020 Chevening scholar. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University, a Diploma in Public Administration from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), Malaysia, and a Business Foundation Programme from St. Andrew's College in Cambridge, UK.


Andrew Heng

Group Managing Partner, Baker Tilly Malaysia

 

Andrew Heng is the Group Managing Partner of Baker Tilly Malaysia.  He also sits on the Baker Tilly International Board and is the Baker Tilly International APAC Regional Chair.

He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and Law from the University of Western Australia.

Andrew is not only a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) but was also admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.  He is both a registered Auditor with the Malaysia Audit Oversight Board, as well as an approved Liquidator under the Malaysian Companies Act 2016.

As with all aspiring accountants, Andrew started his career in Audit & Tax.  Eventually, he found his specialisation in Corporate Finance, Liquidation, Receivership and Fraud Investigation.  His 25 years of experience and industry exposure includes property development, construction, restoration of abandoned housing and schemes, scrap metal recycling, hotels, underwater aquarium aquatic business, mining, timber, plantations, retail and manufacturing.

He was formerly with Ferrier Hodgson Perth in Western Australia and Rashid and Lee Advocates & Solicitors.
